You posted a while back about how people often mistranslate "fuck" as "hold", so everytime I come across this I mentally translate it. I was wondering, would there ever be an instance in BL where they actually say "I want to hold you", or is it a safe bet that it's incorrect?
Sure! But the verb is different—if they mean hold/hug, as in, “I just want to hold you in my arms,” the verb will be 抱きしめる (dakishimeru; part of the verb is the same as the one for 抱く/daku that’s usually used to mean ‘fuck’ in BL manga).
It’s hard to tell if it’s an accurate or mistranslation, but if the couple immediately segue into doing the horizontal tango, it’s probably a mistranslation XD
